Jose K Mani is a politician from Kerala. He belongs to the Kerala Congress (Mani) party. He is the son of K. M. Mani.[1] He unsuccessfully contested in the parliament election in 2004.
[2] He lost to P C Thomas in Muvattupuzha constituency.
In 2007, he was elected general secretary of the Kerala Congress.[1] He won the 2009 Lok Sabha election from the Kottayam constituency, by a margin of more than 70000 votes over Suresh Kurup of Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI(M)).
Jose K Mani was elected to the Lok Sabha for the first time in 2009 from the Kottayam Constituency. Among the country's younger parliamentarians, he is a native of Pala in Kottayam District, Kerala.
Known for his tireless work at the grassroots level and for spearheading the improvement of his home constituency, Jose's hands-on, informal style has led to him being regarded as the most approachable MP.
As a representative of Kottayam district he gives top priority to working among his constituents and on the all-round development of his district.
His other main area of focus is youth empowerment. He is commited to inculcating a sense of social and political responsibility among the youth in rural and semi urban Kerala.
Jose is a Member of the Lok Sabha Committee on Transport, Tourism and Culture.
He is the Chairman of Centre for Reform and Research- a youth empowerment society. He is also the President of Vikasana Sena- a youth association associated with Prateeksha Rotary Centre for Mentally Challenged Children.
Born in 1965 in Pala, Jose did his schooling in Montfort School, Yercaud. He graduated from Loyola College, Chennai and is an MBA from PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore.
Before dedicating himself to public service, Jose worked with private and public sector companies in and outside Kerala. Taking inspiration from his illustrious father KM Mani, he entered public service in 2001.
Prior to his election as Member of Parliament, Jose was the President of the Kerala Youth Front for several years.
In 2003, Jose as the President of the Kerala Youth Front, mobilised one of the largest youth gatherings in the history of Kerala under the banner of 'Vikasana Sandesha Yatra', to channelise their energies towards productive purposes.
